morning walks

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

We are getting into the habit of taking a nice morning walk on weekend mornings, Fio and I. We go out around eight, she falls asleep in the baby carrier on my chest and I get a nice soy latte. We end up sitting at a small park in Cole Valley, I read a book [...]

Eggers Ted Talk

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I’ve been a fan of Dave Eggers since his brilliant “A heartbreaking work of staggering genius“. Between McSweeneys, his books and his work at 826 Valencia tutoring center it’s not hard to see how he got himself a Ted award. Don’t miss his inspiring Ted Talk here and then if you wish, follow up on [...]

Sad news

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Very very sad news, a young co-worker and Pixar fellow story artist, Justin Wright passed away yesterday night. He died of a heart attack, Justin received a heart transplant 14 years ago. He was at his desk doing what he loved to do: draw. You can find a nice article about Justin here and his [...]

:(

Monday, March 17th, 2008

My MacBookPro’s harddrive is shot, useless, needs to be replaced and all its data is lost. I had backed up a certain amount of stuff, my photos luckily, but some data is lost. This is my second harddrive failure on this computer in less than a year, so frustrating. Last time I bit the bullet [...]

Nanotechnology

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Ok, forgive me for geeking out, but this Nokia prototype phone is pretty darn amazing. One of the many future uses of nanotechnology … doesn’t it make you excited about the possibilities?

Valentine

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Did I mention that my name, if I had been a girl, would’ve been Valentina? True story. So my full name really is Enrico Guido Valentina Casarosa. Wow, that’s something. Yes Guido is my middle name, don’t laugh if you’re from around NYC, it’s not a good thing to be a Guido around there. But [...]

Politics on an art blog?

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Well, I am usually really adverse to talking politics, especially on this blog. Furthermore I can’t even vote (I am a legal alien, like Sting) but yesterday I remained surprised by this youtube prensentation by Stanford Professor Lawrence Lessig (whom oddly enough I mentioned last week here) breaking down Clinton and Obama. I found it [...]

Satrapi comic-interview

Monday, February 4th, 2008

This is a really interesting interview in comic version with Marjane Satrapi. She brings up such deep but simple points. I like the ending note especially: “the second I have a friend in one country, that country cannot be my enemy.” So true, so simple. Ok, ready for the next SketchCrawl friends all around the [...]

A quick trip to Italy

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

I am off to Milano and Genova for a few days. What brings me there this time is actually work, the italian release of Ratatouille on DVD. I am also going to give a talk at the European Institute of Design there … I’ll try and post from Italy if I get a chance. [...]
