Well, I have to admit, I’ve been a closet follower of your blog for about a month now and really love looking at your stuff! Is this one of the images that’s going in the Paris show? I noticed the same fox in your earlier sketchbook post.

Have to say your SketchCrawl deal really inspired me, too, and I’m helping organize one in Baltimore for Jan. 10. Take care!

I’m assuming you use tube watercolors on these illustrations.

So I have to ask: How the heck do you get that skintone?

I’m using a color wheel, and mixing my colors it just doesn’t seem to want to make the tone I want. All my people come out looking too tan, like they just got back from Maui.

I absolutely love this! I missed the first Three Trees show because I was in Paris. Now I’m gonna miss this one cause I’m not in Paris! :( Are you making another book?

Sam- Yes this is for the arshow at Arludik Galerie in Paris, there’s a lot of foxes in the pieces I am making for it … for some reason …
Good to hear about SketchCrawl Baltimore! great!

    David- thanks!!

Yaprak- wow, that’s amazing!!! Just by chance you’re gonna be in Paris? Or you’re coming just for it? Look forward to meeting you either way…

Donal- yes, these are watercolors … well the way I do it is by mixing some earthy yellow with just a tiny bit of red … make it a very diluted … then I add red where I want some flushness, like in the cheeks and nose and such …
just use a lot of water with it … keep it diluted …

marmax- glad you like these … sorry you’ll miss the show … though I think it will be up for a few weeks … any chance of catching it later in february?
No plans for a book at the moment … but it’s not a bad idea … :)
