Asian Art Museum Lecture
Ronnie del Carmen and I are gonna give a talk at the Asian Art Museum this coming saturday December 6th. The subject: “Totoro Forest – Miyazaki Hayao and his influence on western Animation”. We’ll talk about how the master’s body of work has influenced us personally and how it has managed to inspire a whole generation of animators and filmmakers around the globe. We’ll then delve into how that same inspiration Miyazaki has given us was harnessed into the celebrated fundraiser Totoro Forest Project. The lecture is free with Museum Admission ($12 regular ticket, $7 Students). Asian Art Museum members are always free.

Oh man that sounds awesome! What a great topic. By the way I picked up The Venice Chronicles a few days ago at Forbidden Planet on 13th and Broadway:) So funny.

Hey E,
Unfortunately, I cannot make the lecture as I have plans for Dec 6th. Will someone be making a recording so a podcast can be made or part of the lecture on Youtube.

Hi Enrico,
Darn it … with all the cuts at our newspaper, getting a Saturday off is nearly impossible. Hope it goes well … I’m sure it will. But, I’ll second the idea above and suggest you post a podcast of the session online. Let me know.
I’m going to get something in our paper about the Cartoon Art Museum show — especially with the overlap so that most of the auction pieces will all be on display together. Sorry about the KGO gig. The producer and on-air talent I was talking to about the exhibit were fired after a microphone mishap and a certain 4-letter word went out over the air.
Wishing you only the best, always!
