Meeting Terada San
Many of you must know the “RakugaKing” (sketch king): Terada Katsuya. He’s probably mostly known in the US as the character designer for Blood the last vampire, but he’s done a ton of other work in videogames and animation. His drawing style has a great mix of European and Japanese influences. We’ve had a chance of hanging out with him this past sunday here in SF and what a pleasure that was. Terada San not only is an amazing amazing draftsman (he drew stunning sketches on his Ipod touch!!!) but he’s also a kind and relaxed soul. We very much enjoyed having brunch and chilling afterward with him and friends. His brand new book (a collaboration with Katsuhiro Otomo) called “Viva il ciclismo” follows the famous italian cycle race “Giro d’Italia”. It just came out in Japan and it’s really wonderful. It’s really inspiring to see someone so talented, so committed to drawing and so successful at it! Rakuga King indeed!!!
