Work in progress 2
Here’s a few shots of the next couple steps I took in watercoloring this large piece for the Venice Chronicles. I am moving rather slowly on it, bit by bit every night, or almost. As we say in Italy: “Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano”. Which translates to the rather uninspiring: “Who goes slow, goes healthy and far”.
Anyway! After the water I attacked the bricks in the buildings, trying to get some good variation in color and tone among them. After that I watercolored the skin tones on the characters, which I usually do by laying a yellowish/pink base and by adding, while the color is still wet, dabs of red here in there on cheeks and hands and such. And that’s as far as I got last night …
One last note and suggestion on working on a piece like this: you might want to find an infant, around a week or two old, and have it on your lap while coloring. The (probably whaling) newborn will make watercoloring just that much easier or at least … faster.

Di inglese non ci capisco una mazza, ma i disegni parlano tutte le lingue e quello che trasmetti è a dir poco fantastico. Che bello!
Ti ho trovato leggendo la tua intervista su Topolino (che dovrebbero leggere i miei figli, ma per deformazione lo leggo prima io!)…bella pure quella.

Ciao! I tuoi lavori sono a dir poco fantastici!!!! Ho scoperto il tuo sito leggendo Topolino e devo dire che mai lettura fu più interessante! Mi piace molto dedicarmi ai disegni e ai colori, ma li avevo accantonati da un pò… grazie a te mi è tornata una grandissima voglia di prendere fogli, matite, colori e fantasia! Grazie!

Ciao… Anch’io ti ho “conosciuto” leggendo l’intervista su Topolino. Anche a me piace molto disegnare… disegno inogni momento, appena ne ho l’occasione… I tuoi lavori sono fantastici, davvero tantissimi complimenti. Perchè, però, non apri anche un blog in italiano? Sai, io ho 15 anni e di inglese non ne capisco molto (come pure tanti altri italiani…). Comunque grazie per i capolavori che ci regali e ancora COMPLIMENTONI!

Prima di tutto…congratulazioni!! Bellissima bimba! Che esperienza!Attualmente mi occupo di un bel tipino di 7 anni…..dio…va a batterie nucleari e mi porta allo sfinimento! ma diamine…lo adoro.
