I am too ... I must admit I have mixed feelings about the amount of the movie they are showing. I personally wouldn't want that many spoilers ... but I know they are making a major PR effort that is reaching a lot of people ... give and take I guess. Anyway I finally have the art book in my hands and it's really nice! We are getting one copy of the book signed by all artists here at Pixar and we'll have it as one of the prices of the raffle for our upcoming benefit art auction ! e Glad you’re excited about this movie Matt. One of the reasons you haven't seen much of my "work work" is that after storyboarding on Ice Age I started work here at Pixar boarding on Ratatouille for roughly four years (while the last year and a half I've been on a new movie). The point though is that these movies sure take a while to make ... so Ratatouille is my first actual credit on a Pixar movie, even though I've been here since before Finding Nemo. Pretty amazing uh? An animator that got here at Pixar 5 and half years ago would have worked (with credit) on every movie since Nemo. That's one side of working in Story ... takes patience ... Also storyboards are not quite the sexy drawings and paintings that art and design produce for these movies. We draw rough sketches with only grey tones mostly and I can see why, sadly, boards often don't make it in these "art of books". The Ratatouille one is peppered through out with boards, I am glad about that. Someone should make a whole book only of storyboard art ... that'd be neat. Joe- Cool. cK- Uhm, not sure man, Kiki's art of book is pretty amazing and it's filled with tons of imageboards and character studies not only by Miyazaki himself but by Yoshifumi Kondo and many other designers ... certainly one of my favorite books. I know that I may be stepping into sacred ground. I really do like Studio Ghilbi Art Books as well as Kazuo Oga Art Collection books. But, I think that Art of Pixar Book shows more of the development and/or struggle in getting to the final product. I am sure that there was a struggle in getting character designs of Sulley and Mike drawings until the final ones are accepted which contrasts to the beautiful and exiquisite pastels of background art.
