Gipi’s New Year wishes

And since we’re on the topic, I really found this one page comic by Gipi funny and poignant. So much that I made a translation for you to read! Enjoy.

The New Year will very beautiful and luminous (of a diffused light), so nobody will be backlit.
“In fact I am the last one”

And we will discover that there isn’t just one god, in the sky, but a hundred million of billions, thirty for each one of us,
and all different but all equally likable and elastic and truly sincerely affectionate.

In this incredible most amazing new year (actually, from the beginning of this new year) not only everyone of us will be able to decide when and how to die, (hear oh hear) everybody will be able to choose how to live! (I swear)
“Furry, my love…”

I am so happy, moved and excited at the idea of this amazingly beautiful coming new year that I want to run in the streets and announce it to everyone !
cop1: Stop!
cop2: “A crazy man running! Let’s fuck him up!”
Yuuuuuuu!
“Yes do it now, till you can!!”

Then, everything, will change -

Glad you guys enjoyed this as much as I did …
    you’re all very welcome …

Isn’t it amazing in that last panel how you can imagine the guy running and yelling yyuuuuu happy in the streets ?
Gipi is a master at making you feel and see what’s outside the panels … in those inbetween spaces …
    pretty amazing …

i totally agree. i’ve been obsessed with le local and une histoire de guerre (don’t know the italian names) recently. it feels like his stuff becomes great in the ambient panels; the big panels of empty sky; or the slow shots of urban decay. i don’t want to gush too much, but it’s like it exists in some sort of purgatory.
