max- thanks, glad you liked it. I did indeed use a digital camera for these videos … the Sanyo Xacti … not the greatest quality … I think the resolution was a tad better than your nikon, if I remember correctly it’s 620×480 …

Enrico–
Just noticed you’d put this up–it’s a really fun piece. I like the ending, too, but my favorites are actually the daytime food shots along with the surrounding (rope-pulling, children playing, red columns on the evening water) ones.
What did you use to shoot these, by the way? Some of the jittery shots make me think video-function on a digicam, but the quality is quite good compared to my old nikon. (12 fps, 480×360)

Katie- Thank you, Katie. I appreciate hearing your reactions since it’s the first time I do something like this … so I am particularly happy to hear you loved it.

cK- You know that trip pretty well C, you’re the one afterall that helped me decide which towns to hit … Glad you like it … and yes there’s a melancholy in this, you’re right …
It was also a “soul searching” trip for me, I was indeed alone … still the memories from it are great. I have many drawings from that trip too …

Your movie was great, nostalgic but sad at the same time. I loved visiting Japan but often as a business traveler just like the movie “Lost in Translation” You see the beauty but it is by yourself so it is melancholy and alone. You get the same feeling when you see your movie. Beautiful but alone.

This is just beautiful, really. The ending is great, I think it captures the experience of traveling, trying to take in as much as possible, and ending up with an assortment of memories ranging from the mundane to the very exceptional, all equally beautiful. The music sets a nice tone. Really nice work.

ciao enrico…sono quello che ti aveva dato del “fottuto genio”..:-) molto bello il video…la parte finale con quei neri….grandioso!! sono stato in giappone un paio d’anni fa e sono stato folgorato da quel paese…bellissimo! una gran voglia di tornarci, anche grazie alle tue immagini…ciao!!
