Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
Saw this amazing movie a couple of nights ago. The latest from Director Chan-wook Park (Oldboy, Three… Extremes, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance). Haven’t seen Oldboy? Run to rent it (but only if you have a good stomach for heavy movies). This third and last movie of his trilogy on revenge, is a must see. It’s as dark and at times disturbing as Oldboy but of such power and impact. I realized 5 minutes after the end of it I was kind of breathing hard, as if I had just ran up a flight of stairs. It kept me that much on the edge of my seat. The lead actress is spellbinding, her eyes say a thousand words without even a blink … The cinematography like in OldBoy is also masterful and beautiful. I ordered the dvd today.

I’m making a trip to Chinatown tomorrow and I hope the edition they have is the super-nice Korean double-disc addition with the slick cover. Oh boy I’m excited.

I didn’t understand a word in the trailer, either. BUT: those pictures are so intense, so beautiful composed and coloured, that I could click “screenshot” after “screenshot” … never had a chance to see them on big screen (:-( maybe this one, it’s about to start some day in 2006 here…

I really want to see both Mr and Mrs vengeance…
It seems that most of the best movies I saw last year were korean movies…
Save the green Planet, Old Boy, Joint security Area, and that one about the two sisters (I forget the name) I recently heard of another one I want to see: A BITTERSWEET LIFE

Ho rivisto lady vendetta l’altro ieri, per la seconda volta. il film più bello da un bel pò di tempo per me, lei fa stare male da come è dannatamente splendida.
